The apartment
Your home in the mountains
The apartment is on the first floor of a modern timber-built residential complex completed in 2023 – right in the centre of Mittenwald and yet quiet. From the underground garage, the lift takes you right to the door.
The entire complex – and therefore our apartment too – was built to the highest ecological standards using natural materials. The result is a healthy, natural living space where you feel at home from the very first moment.
A bedroom, children's room, kitchen-diner and a long balcony with mountain views offer space for up to five guests, including a maximum of four adults – ideal for families, but just as good for friends coming together for hiking or skiing.
Bedroom
Large double bed (180 × 200 cm), plus a TV, a desk for anyone who needs to work for a moment, and its own access to the balcony. The room can be closed off with its own door.
The photo still shows the sofa – it will be replaced by the double bed (180 × 200 cm) in April 2027.
Children's room
Sturdy wooden bunk bed, also suitable for adults (90 cm, up to 160 kg). A third pull-out bed for children is stored underneath. This room has its own door too.
Bathroom
Modern bathroom with a walk-in shower, illuminated mirror and washer-dryer.
Balcony
Everyone's favourite spot: breakfast with views of the mountains around Mittenwald – from the first coffee to sunset. The balcony is fully covered, so you can sit outside comfortably even when it rains.

Guest card incl. bus & train
We register you, and the guest card (Kurkarte) arrives digitally on your phone. It lets you travel free of charge by bus and train (e.g. to Garmisch or to Lake Lautersee) and gives you many discounts.
Getting here
If your journey takes you through a short stretch of Austria via the Fern Pass, you won't need a motorway vignette for it. The apartment has its own underground parking space (max. height 2.10 m).
E-bikes
There are fantastic e-bike routes all around Mittenwald. Renting is expensive – we have e-bikes of our own, just ask us.

Right in Mittenwald
Mittenwald lies between the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains, right on the border with Tyrol. The village is famous for its painted houses, its violin making and the mountains that seem to begin right in the pedestrian zone.

Our tips
Out into the mountains
Karwendel cable car
Germany's second-highest cable car. At the top you'll find a family-friendly circular trail, a small museum inside the giant tube, a restaurant and a brewery – often with sunshine above a sea of fog.

Kranzberg
Take the chairlift up (free once with a guest card valid for 3+ days) and hike back down via Lake Lautersee or the Gröbl Alm – in summer you can also ride down by mountain kart.

Lainbach waterfall & Lake Lautersee
A beautiful path past the waterfall up to the mountain lake – in summer with a lido, diving board, and SUP and pedal-boat hire.

Zugspitze & Lake Eibsee
The must-see: take the cable car from Grainau or the cog railway from Garmisch up Germany's highest peak. Set off early and avoid weekends.

Burgberg & Puit spa parks
A charming park with old trees, streams, ponds and a Kneipp water-therapy basin – and mini golf next door in the Puit spa park.

Leutasch Ghost Gorge
Walkways and bridges high above the roaring Leutascher Ache, plus the waterfall trail to a 22 m high waterfall. The entrance is right on the southern edge of Mittenwald.

Partnach Gorge
Over 700 metres, wild torrents rush between rock walls up to 80 metres high – in winter, the bizarre icicles make it a completely different experience.

Lake Walchensee
The “Bavarian Caribbean”: turquoise water, a small beach, and warmer than Lake Lautersee. On weekday evenings the toll road is often free of charge.

Via Scharnitz to the source of the river Isar – a steady, gentle climb that is easily manageable with children.

Skiing & cross-country
Rosshütte and Gschwandtkopf in Seefeld, Garmisch-Classic and the glacier ski area on the Zugspitze. Leutasch is a top destination for cross-country skiers.

The Olympiabad in Seefeld with heated outdoor pools and a wild-water slide that leads out of the building and back in, the Alpenbad in Leutasch with slides and saunas – and the trimini in Kochel am See with a sauna area and views of Lake Kochel.
New: the newly renovated Alpspitz wave pool in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is expected to reopen from 30 November 2026.

Innsbruck
Take the train along a spectacular route to the Tyrolean capital. Highlights: the old town with the Golden Roof, the Imperial Palace and Court Church, the Nordkette cable car straight from the city to over 2,200 m, the Bergisel ski jump, Ambras Castle and the Alpine Zoo – plus shopping, cafés and the Christmas markets in Advent.

Lovely beer garden with good Bavarian food, close to the pedestrian zone.

Above the village, 20–30 min. on foot, open all day, very good food.
Platzfisch Chalet
Cosy wooden chalet by the station, small modern menu focusing on fish.
Josefs
Stylish and really good – on the first floor in the centre of the village.
Gasthaus Klammgeist
Iconic Tyrolean inn in Leutasch. Tip: fish soup, goulash, Gröstl (Tyrolean potato hash).
Indian Grill
Very good Indian food in the village centre.
Saloniki
Great Greek restaurant on the edge of the village.
Good to know: unfortunately, some restaurants only accept cash. You can withdraw money free of charge at the checkout in the REWE supermarket, and there are also several cash machines in the village.
